Morning cropping, mourning the cayenne plants.
The weather’s starting to turn, and everything’s feeling a lot more autumnal than it was a week ago. We had the first big storm on Thursday night, and all the cayenne plants were blown off the wall. One of the pots got smashed and a few main stems got snapped. The plants are still there, but they’ve lost a lot of leaf. I pulled the fruit off the broken stems last night.
Fi and I were upset by the chillis. We started them from seed in April, and we’ve put a huge amount of love into them. They feel like pets. I’m sad I was stupid enough to leave them out in strong wind. Still: nice chillis.
You live and learn. In brighter news, we cropped a large marrow and the first of the broccoli this morning. That green broccoli’s coming on very fast now; lots of smaller heads under the main ones, and the large flowers are getting a decent size. I say it’s green, but I’m pretty sure it’s the purple variety. Fi disagrees. Is it green or purple?
Last bit. We’ve got Cat and Paul here for the weekend, and we had a go at one of the first batch of sauces I received from the Chilefoundry for review yesterday. It was yummy. I’m sending the copy over later. I’ll link it when it’s live.

Looks like green broccoli to me, but then I’m no expert…. I am still v impressed though! xoxo
We ate it tonight. Looked pretty green to me. If that’s the green stuff, the purple plants have gone proper mental. I’ll take some pics when I get back to France.
